"Karen, This is why you socialize pups!"

Johnna, Liberty,MO

We have been raising pups for many years. Today I was pleasantly surprised to receive this letter (although sad).
We are glad to advise our customers for as long as you own our dog.
I may never meet you personally, but I remember your name.
This dogs sire was my very first Sire: Dunlap's Little Tiger.
I advised her to read
www.gloryridge.com/CDS.htm

Hi Karen,

I purchased my Shih Tzu from you in November of 1993!  My name was Sheri Horowitz (now it's Bell).

I have emailed you a few times over the years but you  may not recall me and I completely understand if you don't.  Actually me and my boyfriend at the time purchased 2 puppies from you that November in 1993.

Anyway, China (my dog) is now 15 years old and I need some advice.  She really doesn't know where she is or who she is anymore.  She just sleeps all day and eats and that is about it.  I don't know that she has any quality of life left.  We have to take her out to go to the bathroom or else she just goes anywhere now.  I don't think she knows where she is half the time.   What do you think I should do?  Maybe I just need permission to let her go, heck I don't know.  It is such a tough decision. Any advice?

Thanks! Sheri Bell

P.S. Here is her picture I just took of her.  She still looks good for 15 doesn't she?  I think her mom was golden and her dad had Tiger in his name.

Hi Karen!!
I thought you might love to see the latest image of Ms. Cocoa Lindberg.  She's my most previous possession! She's never been sick! She's brilliant, intuitive, loving, talkative and all muscle.
All our best to you and your family,
Karen Lindberg

Dear Karen,

I have attached a recent picture of Merlin and Sirius with their Corgi sister, Dilwyn.  She is going to be 13 in September, but she still has some "puppy" moments, where she will chase the boys and steal their toys.  :)
I hope you, yourself, are doing well and keeping healthy.
Take care and God Bless your family,

Darby Hoover
Son of Glory Ridge Red Satin and Stymie

Karen,

I wanted you to see what a gorgeous puppy Darby  has grown into.  We love him dearly and he is such a big part of our family.  His temperament is everything you told me it would be...he loves everyone, but especially children, and he follows me around the house wherever I go.  He is such a calm dog but is also very playful and loves to wrestle with the two other dogs on our street that are his size (another shih tzu and a shih tzu mix).  He makes us laugh all the time and I have had so many people tell me he is a perfect dog.  His silky fur is so unbelievable I can't bring myself to give him his first haircut yet!  He weighs eleven pounds already at 6 months old so I guess he qualifies as one of the "chowhounds".   We have kept up the Glory Ridge tradition of being spoiled--he hasn't been left alone for more than 4 hours since he arrived in February and we take him with us whenever we can.  Thanks so much for raising such sweethearts.  We are thrilled beyond words with him!

Hi Karen,
Here is a picture of my little Holly.  She has been such a joy in my life.  She sticks close to me no matter where I go in my home.  She is always by my side.  She loves to get treats, and when she knows she is going to get one, she jumps thru the house like a jackrabbit.  Almost like she is weightless.  She certainly doesn't look like a dog and you can tell she is overjoyed.
She has also learned to howl in a very strange way.  It is very high, and it is always when my other dog is barking at something outside.  Holly doesn't bark, but will howl.  I just sit and laugh at her.  She is a very docile, sweet dog.  Thanks so much for such a beautiful sweet friend.

Dear Karen,

Here are pictures of Munchkin and Finn, our gloryridge shih tzu. Munchkin (from Roxy and Stymie) is 10 months old. He loves to give kisses to everyone. He is the sweetest puppy in the world. Finn (from Tara and Stymie) is 5 1/2 months old. He is very hyper but he is extremely lovey. Munchkin and Finn have grown to be best friends. Rita Menard
Karen,

Here is Mikko's and Zinger's pup (born 04/04/04).  Look at the eyelashes that she has.  Unfortunately, this picture does not do her justice she is a real beauty in person and the most lovable pooch ever.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Hello Karen, Happy New Year to you and yours! I just wanted to give you a quick update on "the boys" Real show stoppers they are. The are such
Great Buddies and Companions not only to us but to each other! I am so happy and grateful that we have the two of them. I can't imagine what
life would be like for one another had we not decided to get them both. The trainer who told me I was wrong for getting them at the same time
was an Idiot!!! Now, with that said let me tell you a little about Gus..He is so confident and loving. His beautiful eyes are soulful and
he doesn't take any crap from any dog any size! I take them to the dog park and he will run after the BIG dogs like he is one himself. Now
Taylor on the other hand looks to be a rascal but is as sweet as they come. They are learning to become real gentlemen and accomplishing
allot in the short time we have had them. We love them so much,  thank you for breeding such amazing animals!! Sheri & Nathan Krinsky

Hi Karen -

Well, Gigi (from GR Red Hot Mama and Sunnyhill Luck o' the Irish) is almost five years old, and she is the joy in my life.  She's as much of a puppy today as she was 4-1/2 years ago when I picked her up from the airport!  She is spoiled just like any Glory Ridge pup should be, and I like to think that I've kept up with the tradition.  And while my non-GR pup Lola has had health problems beyond imagination, Gigi is the picture of health.  I can't thank you enough!

Keep up the good work and God bless,
Christine

 Hi Karen,

I just wanted to give you an update on how our little Nadia is doing.   Nadia  is doing wonderfully, she's about 8 pounds, her hair has lightened up a  bit (sad to see some of her brown spots fade away but thats expected when Shih-Tzu's get older).  Nadia has an upcoming birthday, she is  going to be 4 years old on March 9th (Nadia was purchased in April 2004.   Sire: Hunka  Burn N Luv / Dam: Ching Ching).  Nadia is as happy as can be,  she loves to play fetch, she loves squeaky toys, she loves going for walks in  the park and she especially loves playing with her older brother (brother not by  Gloryridge).  We take her everywhere with us, including vacations and she's  quite the show stopper on the street, so many people stop us when we are walking  by and comment all the time on how beautiful she is.  My husband loves her,  they've formed a special bond, she's definitely daddy's little girl.
Thank you again for sending us our Nadia who's been a wonderful little blessing.
Happy Holiday and God Bless you.
Sincerely,
Elena Palau-Stewart

Hi Karen,

Congratulations to you for your 10 year anniversary on the web. It's always a treat to look through your website to see new puppies and tons of information about raising them.

BooBoo was born 6/8/2003 to Stymie and Red Satin. We didn't know for a long while what color he would be, and it just didn't matter. He's a spoiled boy. We consider ourselves a family of three: Ken, Mary & Boo!

We hope that anyone looking for a Shih Tzu will take note of the fact that you breed excellent dogs. Due to a move we have had two vets for Boo. They both are amazed at how healthy he is, and always comment on those nice pink gums, with no teeth problems. We are so pleased with him.

As you can see, BooBoo still believes in Santa!

Congrats to you, and thank you. Have a wonderful Christmas!

Dear Karen,
Our girls "Maimie and Sadie" will be 3 years old this February.
They are healthy and happy (pictured here with their human brother, Quentin).
You did a wonderful job of socializing them and they still love
to fall asleep in our arms. We continue to get comments on their amazing color,
and how calm and well behaved they are in public. I have given your name and website to MANY people. We wish you a blessed 2008.   Susan Bishop

Dear Karen,

Our adorable Glory Ridge red and white shih tzu baby turned one year on
July 21.  We all love her to pieces.  She is the sweetest, cuddliest,
friendliest dog in the world.  No one is a stranger to Lucy, just a
friend she is meeting for the first time.  When we take a walk, she goes
up to people with her tail and whole bottom wagging.  She has such a
beautiful face and gorgeous color that she attracts a lot of attention
when we go out.  I sometimes take her when I pick my daughter up from
school and she loves it when the kids run up to pet her.

Lucy is a very playful dog and really enjoys her toys.  She'll go under
the sofa with a ball, and bat it out with her nose.  She'll then look at
the ball and growl until my husband lies on the floor and rolls it back
to her.  She bats it back with her nose.  This can go on for quite some
time.  Her absolute favorite toy is her soft flying disc.  You throw it,
and she brings it back to you over and over.

People always comment on how sweet and friendly Lucy is.  Your
granddaughter Glori does a great job in socializing your puppies.  I
would not buy a dog over the Internet from anybody but you.  I believe
that you are somewhat unique in that you are a reputable breeder who is
offering healthy, beautiful puppies for loving pets, instead of a
breeder of quality show dogs who may sometimes have puppies for sale.  I
would not hesitate to buy another dog from you and recommend you to
anyone who shows interest.

Thanks again, Karen, for a great dog.
Love, Carol

Hi Karen....I just saw the beautiful red pups that you have available on your website today. What those photos don't show is just how gorgeous your reds are. The deep, rich color is just unbelievable. I remember back on July 3rd of this year when my Glory Ridge baby arrived at the airport. Of all the people that were there waiting on puppies, mine was absolutely the most beautiful. When that tiny ball of red fur peeked out of that crate all eyes were on him. No one had ever seen a Shih Tzu with that much color. And what a tiny thing he was.....you couldn't tell that in the photos either. Opie is now almost 6 months old. He is the sweetest little redhead I've ever met....and the hairiest! My goodness that boy has some hair! I've attached a couple of recent photos. Excuse the messy hair. Hopefully it won't be long till that face hair stays where I put it. This tiny Tzu baby is a dream come true....."Thank you" so much!  And I guess it's only fair that I give Prissy and Stymie some credit too. They make beautiful babies together :)

Tribute To Cozmo
Who died from the poisoned dog food recalled.

SO LONG MY FRIEND    Storme “Cozmo” Saphire

11/27/90 to 2/9/07

It was a stormy, rainy, dreary day, when we decided to head to Richmond Missouri , to the Glory Ridge Kennel, to see these puppies we had found in an advertisement.

When we arrived there was a grayish dark faced fur ball that was just doing every thing she could to catch our eye. Her little puppy kisses never ended, and we fell in love with her puppy breath. That cold rainy dreary day turned into a bright beautiful day, we found our baby, Cozmo came home with us. She was such a bundle of joy. So full of love, and so smart, ready to rule the roost.

During my time off, Cozmo went everywhere with me. Envision this, a Shih Tzu driving a Camero. And when I bought a convertible, that was Cozmos favorite ride, she sat on my lap hanging her head out the window with a big smile on her face. She was always up ready to go visit my grandma, checking out her cat cousins at grannies house, and her Mexican cousins at my moms house.  Cozmo loved to swim with us or go walking in the park, just as long as she was with us she was happy.

Every Halloween Cozmo dressed up to answer the door for the trick or treaters. She always loved the kids and the kids got a kick out of Cozmo being dressed in a Halloween costume. Cozmo also entered the Halloween parade down on the plaza, proud to be strutting her stuff. In fact one year she was a TV star in the Halloween parade.

On her birthday and at Christmas time she loved to open presents. In fact at Christmas we couldn’t put out the gifts under the tree to early cause guess who just like a kid would open them up to sneak a peek. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do.

Cozmo taught Betty to love animals again, when I would go out of town for work, she would show Betty comfort, never leaving Bettys side. They would lie in bed together and eat gummy bears together. Betty would give Cozmo the ones she didn’t like, and Cozmo would gladly help her out.

I tend to get migranes, Cozmo would lay for hours to make sure I was protected, she knew I was sick so in her way she took care of me. Seeing that no one would touch me while I was sleeping.

In return for all she gave me, I tried to give back to her, but I knew I could never return as much as she gave. She was so special, so very special. I miss her so terribly.

When she had to go meet her maker, we stayed with her, holding her in her bed with her little baby Pammy which we gave her the day we brought her home. Ours was the last touch she felt and the last voices whispering in her ears of how much love we felt for her, when she took her last breath. When we sent her to be cremated her “bad baby” Pammy and bed were also done with her so she will have them for eternity.

Cozmo you will live on forever in our Hearts. We love you Cozmo, and miss you so very much………………….

PS From Karen:
Linda and Betty also have 3 other Glory Ridge Dogs:

Scarlett (rear)         Stella (front)
and recently I gave them poor little "Star"  who got sick from a vaccine fought to stay alive. I am sure under their loving care she will live a long life!  Here she is when they took her home after a 2 month battle I had to get her to eat after the shot reaction.

Dear Karen,
Congratulations on 20+ years in the Shih Tzu business, and 10 years on the Internet! I have attached some pictures of my Glory Ridge cuties for your page. We are just in love with our boys. We are constantly telling each other how lucky we are to have such wonderful dogs in our family. They are a true joy.
We got Merlin (Doo X Reilly - Oct. 04) and Scooter (Jazzy X Burnie - Oct. 04) together, in December 2004. It was a great idea to get 2 at the same time. They played and wrestled each other, like we never could with them separately. We lost Scooter when he was 8 months old due to a "technical error" at the vet's office. We got Sirius (Jazzy X Stymie - June 05) a couple weeks after Scooter passed, and he has made his presence known. He is our little clown. He has recently started "popping" his butt up, while giving a little bark, to get ours or Merlin's attention. It's a signal that it's time to play. It's pretty funny. They both love to tease our older Corgis and try to get them to play too. As they are senior girls, they're not very interested. :^)
Since finding Glory Ridge and being able to talk to you when we've needed information, and such, we would always consider coming to you first, when ever getting another dog.
Thank you so much for your wonderful "Sweet-tzus", your honesty and help.
God bless,

My ever so loving Beau and Fancy from Rigoletto and LaFaminia 12-17-04.  They are so little and adorable, my Grandchildren love them as much as we do!!  They are over 2 years old and I have NEVER EVER EVER heard them growl,  in anger or otherwise. They have NEVER Snapped or opened their mouths to bite,  EVER!!  I find that utterly amazing!   My 3 and 4 year old grandchildren, pick them up, cart them around in their grocery carts, pull their hair to get a better grip on them(I try to keep them from it) and what do these wonderful pups do???? They run away from them as fast as they can and when they find no one if coming for them, they start jumping in front of the kids to say here I am again!!!  They are loving and only look for our love in return.  Thanks for such wonderfully bred personalities and little toy wind up jumping jacks!  Beau is probably 5 lbs and she is probably about 8. Beaus black coat is incredible and turning brown in the front which only adds to his wonderful character.  He sounds like a monkey dog when he wants our attention! He talks to us and trys to speak english, but still has a ways to go  LOL.   I can talk about them for hours.  Fancy is my tiny feline dog  LOL....I think she would purr if she could.  I dont think they have changed a bit since their 8 month pictures in your letters of 05.  I still read your site daily and cant wait to view the new litters and watch them grow.  Its what keeps your web site so wonderful and keeps me coming back to it.  God Bless you and your family for the trials and tribulations you have been through this last year.  Please thank your son-in-law for fighting and helping keep our country free.  Tell him Welcome home!

He stayed in his Sherpa  bag under the  seat like a little angel for the entire flight. We  now have three  cats and they seem to think he is a cat and they  all curl up together  to sleep.
Raven's favorite thing now is my 3 month old granddaughter.

Hi Karen,  Just checking your site and saw Dottie's and Murphy's birthday picture on your available puppy page.  Dottie is 7 years old now. She has been a delight and loves being back in Indiana. Dottie has been very healthy and since we keep her coat long, she gets many comments from neighbors when we walk.

Murphy is not a Glory Ridge dog, but she and Dottie are great friends. Murphy is 12 now and her sight is becoming rather dim. The vet says she is aging gracefully.  I should be so lucky. Ha!
Keep those wonderful dogs coming.  Sincerely, Vikki Luckman

Hi Karen,

Here are some photos you are welcome to use for your reunion page.  This is Harley born 04/04/04 to Mikko and Zinger.  She is much more beautiful in person (dog person that is) and a joy to our household.  We love her dearly and she has my husband wrapped around her pinky paw.  Everywhere I go with her people stop me and ask me where I got her.  When she goes to the vets (we go to a very large vet hospital in the area) for a checkup everyone comes in to the examining  room to see her....it takes forever because they all drool over her and she loves it.  I swear she knows how beautiful she is.

I recommend you to everyone as the best breeder on the planet.  Every pup on your site is outstanding.  I researched the web for 2 years for a breeder and watched and waited.  I am sooo glad I did because we have our Harley.

The picture of her sleeping is the day she arrived from (the day you shipped her to us) a long flight and was pooped.  Needless to say she recovered quickly and has been a ton of fun ever since.(you should update your page that you have a dog in Endicott, NY)

Best regards,
