Note form Karen: There is a troubled person on the net who stalks my site and slanders me. The following letter references that person.  Jesus says we will be persecuted because of our belief in Him.  This person needs to truly find Him (so she will leave me alone...hahaha).  Hope to see you in Heaven one day.!  May you find Christ and be set free from your torment. Believers don't do the things you do to me, so stop claiming Christianity and WALK the WALK.

Hello, Karen!

...about the woman who was slandering you on her website.  That reminded me of an e-mail I received several months ago -- A person had written to me and at first glance it appeared they were asking for a reference but the more I read the note, the more it seemed like an opportunity to question your integrity and to try to get some "dirt" on you from me.  They asked questions like were you REALLY that religious; were you REALLY that honest, etc., and then this person stated there was a website devoted to telling people how terrible you are.  I responded as I do other e-mails -- that I was extremely pleased with the quality of Bo, that you were wonderful to deal with, that I had absolutely no problems with the transaction, etc.  I wish I had saved the note or at least forwarded it to you but to be honest, I really didn't think you needed the aggravation.  The note DID annoy me to the point I considered asking you to remove my e-mail address from my letter you have posted and to furnish it only was asked.

Karen, after viewing the website attacking you, I must say I don't think you have anything to worry about.  I honestly can't believe anyone would take that website seriously after studying it.  The attack I saw on another breeder (not you) was SO immature, unprofessional, and hysterical ... it reminded me of the way 8 year-olds behave on a BAD day!  I don't believe any intelligent person would believe anything they saw written there.

The reputation of Glory Ridge and customer satisfaction speaks for itself.

That is the ONLY e-mail I will post now, and if he is harassed, he will sue without a second thought.

This is what makes it all worth it:

Dear Karen:

I received little Katie yesterday and I was over whelmed with her charm and beauty.  She was bouncing or should I say hopping around like  a bunny rabbit or really the way Shih Tzu's really do.  She arrived so clean and fresh smelling that the baggage attendant remarked on that very thing.  It is because you know your business and go that extra mile for all your customers and I am quite pleased to be able to call on you at any time and get an answer quickly.  Many of the breeders I have known in the past don't know you after you receive your pup.
If anyone reads this recommendation they are free to e-mail me and I will personally answer them telling them how really great you are.
 Blessings, Noreen

Hi Karen!

I hope you remember me.  Your Puerto Rican friend. I have one of your dogs for 8 happy years now.  She is still giving us her love and companionship. This time I'm looking for a dog for my sister, she would like to have a Shih tzu and of course... she wants one just like mine.  She is 32 yrs old married with two boys 8 and 4 yrs old .  She want a dog like mine, wht and gold; but she has not made up her mind in respect of the sex of the dog. Please help me because I'd like to know how are Shih tzu's males.   We read in your web page that you'll have puppies to ship next Sept. so if she can separate one please let us know.  I'm in vacation in a beach apartment and our dogs are here with us, I'm sending you a picture of the dog you sent me 8 yrs ago she is vacationing too.  You may e-mail me at this address  and thank you for help as always your friend,

Subject: Our Shih Tzu Update

Hello Karen,

It's been a while and I just thought you might want to see recent pictures of our little Nadia.  She is 5 month old now and weighs about 6 pounds.  She's a joy, looks like she's smiling all the time and as you can see from the photos she just received her very first puppy cut and look simply adorable.  She skips around the house, plays with her squeaky toys, chases and bosses in a playful manner our male Shih Tzu Sammy and he just takes it because not even he can resist Nadia's charm.  We take her to the dog run here in NYC and she makes heads turn and everyone goes awww.  At night she sleeps with us in our bed and cuddles by our head, its so endearing.  We truly love her with all our heart.  Thanks for giving us our Nadia.  Here are the photos I promised, and feel free to use the first photo to post on your website if you wish.

God Bless,
Elena Palau

This is "Miss Holly Lynchard"
who is a Texas Gal from Glory Ridge
out of Mikiko and Zinger.

Karen,
Just thought you might like to see a recent picture of Holly.  She is the sweetest little angel. (sometimes) She follows me around the house like a little shadow.  She does not let me get out of her sight.  She loves to play, and when she knows she is going to get a treat, she bounces more like a rabbit than a dog.  She gives everyone lots of giggles.  My oh my, what silky hair, and she loves to have it combed.  She relaxes way to much.  She like melted butter when you start brushing her.  Real hard to get her little legs brushed.
She is now 9 months old, weighs 7.8 lbs. Thanks for this little bundle.  She's such a joy to have.
Janet Lynchard

7/15 I got a letter from Holly's brother's Mom:

Hi Karen,

I was so excited to see the picture of Tuffy's sister on your site this evening. Tuffy is Holly Lynchard's brother from Mikiko and Zinger 9 months ago. It's so neat to hear that Holly's personality sounds almost exactly like Tuffy's. He also follows me around the house like a little shadow -- always within eye sight. He's between 10 and 11 pounds at 9 months so I guess I must be feeding him too much!! He takes great joy in terrorizing my two cats -- he chases them all over -- but he's just trying to play with them. Too bad that's not their idea of fun. Tuffy also likes to be brushed, but he certainly doesn't relax during the grooming. I have to give him one brush to bite on while I try to brush him with a second brush. If I only have one brush, it's a real battle. He's learned how to sit, lie down, and roll over for a treat. If he gets confused, he just does all three. He leaps into the air when we take his harness out to take him for a walk and then he races down the sidewalk walking us! It certainly has been a joy to have him join our family. So much so that we're ready for number 2. I'm going to put my $25 deposit in the mail tomorrow. We'd like another male and would appreciate your advice on the best breeding to complement Tuffy. I must also tell you that I looked at another shih tzu site that you had posted on your web site a couple weeks ago. There were a number of puppies, but not one came anywhere close to being as cute as all of yours are! We're looking forward to seeing your upcoming litters and please let us know what you would recommend.Thank you, Brenda Dunbar

Subject: Re: Checking out references for a puppy at Glory Ridge

Hello,  I'm more than happy to give a reference for Karen at Glory Ridge!

I bought a black male shih-tzu from Karen a few years ago.  I have other shih-tzus I bought prior to getting Bo from Karen and Bo is by far the healthiest, has the best personality, and the most BEAUTIFUL coat!  The black hasn't faded or changed color at all. I love all my dogs but you can definitely see a difference between Bo and the others.  Glory Ridge really does breed quality.

Not only would I buy another dog from Karen, I would also trust her to pick the puppy and get him or her to me safely.

Yes, Karen really does know her stuff and if you buy a puppy from her, you will find she is a wealth of information and is always willing to help with any question you have about your pup.  I trust her completely and I am SO glad I bought one of her dogs.  I will never buy a dog from anyone else.

I hope you get one of her puppies -- I know you won't have any regrets!

Subject: WILLIE UPDATE
NOTE FROM KAREN: WILLIE IS A GLORY RIDGE RED PUP THAT LIVES WITH THESE 2 TRUCKERS AND
SEVERAL OTHER SHIH-TZU ON THE ROAD. HE'S BEEN TO MORE STATES ALREADY THAN MOST PEOPLE!

Hi Karen, Just wanted to let you know, Willie is doing great! He had his first national media coverage the other day. I'll see if I can explain. Don't know if you've ever heard of XM Sattellite radio but there is a program on there on what they call the Open Road Channel, it's geared toward truckers but lots of others listen as well. Bill Mack's program is every day from noon to four. You can call in with  prayer requests or just about anything trucker related or just to say hi. Bill has been a DJ for many years and also and song writer (Blue, recorded by Lee Ann Rhimes). Anyway he is good friends with a lot of country artists and one of his best friends is Willie Nelson. I called Bill the other day to announce Willie's arrival and he asked to see a picture of him. His wife Cindy does the show for him and she said she had never seen a red shih-tzu so I'm sending pics. Also, their daughter has 2 shih tzu and I thought they mentioned once that she was interested in breeding so I sent them a link to your web site and told them to check it out and if they really were interested in breeding, you would be the person to talk to. Maybe you'll end up with some radio exposure, you sure deserve it! I'll include a link to Bill's web site so that you can see he is legite and not some "goofball".

Take care and get busy on that book!

Hi Karen,

Just wanted to write & let you know what a blessing Skoshi & MeiMei are.  These two furbabies are so good, Skoshi is 3 now & MeiMei turned 1 last Friday.  Skoshi now weights 14 lbs. & MeiMei weights 8 lbs.  MeiMei is so sweet, loves to cuddle in my lap. Skoshi has turned out to be a daddy's boy since we now have MeiMei.  They both love to go outside or on walks.  They are both potty train to the dog litter pan with pooch pads in them, easy to change the pads & wash them.

Thanks again for such wonderful companions.

Subject: Shih-tzu puppy

Hello, Karen!

Today I took Bo (the black shih-tzu I bought from you almost three years ago) to the vet for his heartworm checkup and was approached by a woman with tears in her eyes.  Her white shih-tzu recently passed away and she and her husband would like to get a pure black one so she had many questions about Bo!  I told her that I had other shih-tzus I had purchased locally (before I "met" you!) and that of all my dogs, Bo had the best personality, had the most beautiful coat, was the healthiest, etc.

I gave her your website and first name.  I told her about the microchip and neutering (she spays or neuters all of her dogs).  I told her how frightened I had been about shipping Bo by plane but that it couldn't have gone any smoother.  She said she would be willing to fly to Missouri to pick up a pup.  I told her that when I first spotted Bo on your website, I was concerned about purchasing a puppy I had not seen but that you sent me (via e-mail) a video that showed his personality and that having dealt with you, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pup from you sight unseen ... that you were one of the most ethical people I have ever known, loved your dogs, and had pride in your breeding ... a perfect combination!

The woman's name is "Mia".  In talking with her, I learned she takes her dogs with her whenever they travel.  They have a second home in Hilton Head, NC, and the dogs go with them.  They are so devoted to their pets, even going so far as to have oil paintings done of them.  When she left my vet's office, my vet confirmed that Mia truly loves her dogs and gives them quality care.

I hope you hear from her.

Hope all is well with you and your family!

Hi Karen,

...I took this picture of Cyd over the week-end - isn't the greatest picture because it certainly doesn't do her justice...    She is the funniest little animal.. I think she should be about full grown in another month or so??? do you think ? she may weigh about 8 #'s ??   We love her to death and she keeps everyone hopping... I take her to work with me to the Emergency Medical Service where I work and all the EMT's come in and greet her before they do anything (she insists) unless they have to go on an ambulance run... They all call her the mascot here!

She loves to eat ice?? everytime she hears the refrigerator spitting out ice (crushed of course) she barks until someone gives her a small piece.. It is  really funny...   And she also loves to play fetch... Smartest little puppy... All trained-- haven't had any accidents in quite awhile..

Got this bow from Lynne-- isn't is beautiful!!

Anyway hope everything is going better for you and your family especially your dad..

Will be keeping in touch  because someday I want another puppy!!!

Later... Diana Morrisse

Hi Karen,

Bonner just loves playing in the snow and right now with the horrifically cold weather he is having a tough time understanding why he is only allowed out to take care of  business and then right back inside.  His coat is growing in nicely and feels like gold satin.  I brush him everyday and intend to keep him in his long coat, his hair is just so beautiful.  Most can't believe he is a shih tzu, being a solid color, and are amazed.

Hi Karen:

Hope all is well with you!  I recently sent you an email with an update on Meeko (Doo & Oreo's 10/7/04 litter) and I said that I would send you a picture of Meeko with Luke.  he was groomed last Saturday and if I thought she was cute before, she's a total knock-out now!

On another note, while I was waiting for the groomer, about 4 other adult shih tzu's came in for their grooming as well and (not because I'm biased towards my own baby), but found that those other dogs were not like any dogs that I've seen at Gloryridge.

Their colors seemed washed out, their coats were not as fluffy and their faces were not they way they should be.  The reason that I know this is only because of what you've written on your site and obviously quality shows!  The strange thing is that she didn't bark at any dogs until the shih tzus came in.  It's funny because she knew her own kind.

Puppies

Hello Karen!

So glad to hear about your dad's improvement....have been praying for him and watching for updates daily.  Just wanted to say hello and tell you how Bamboo is doing.  He is so well-behaved and has the sweetest disposition.  We have lots of visitors in and out of our house and they are always so taken with him. The comments I hear over and over are "He is so calm...not hyper like my puppy."  And they always remark on his beautiful coat which is unbelivevable.  Have some friends and acquaintances who have recently purchased Shih Tzus over the last few years and although they are cute dogs, they cannot compare to Boo in terms of his coat, his temperament, and his beautiful little face.  Had a nice lady here in my hometown contact me because had seen one of my letters on your website.  She was asking questions and I highly recommended Glory Ridge....then she came by to see Boo and I believe you will be hearing from her sometime this spring...her name is Kim Lee.  Boo is totally spoiled and rules the house but we don't mind one bit.  He goes on lots of errands and trips with us and is always well-behaved.  He is also doing well on his house-training...his accidents are always right in front of the door where we take him out.  He's already graduated to sleeping with my 14 year old in his bed.....although he still uses his kennel sometimes for naps during the day.  I see you've been busy lately....blessed with big litters!!!  SO glad your dad is improving and will keep praying!

Have a great day!God bless you,Stephanie Ward

Subject: Puppy update

Hi Karen:

I just wanted to update you about how things are going with Meeko (from Doo & Oreo - 10/7/03 litter).  Before getting her, I have never owned a dog.  Meeko was supposed to be mainly for my son Luke, but I love this girl so much and at first I would slip when I spoke of her and say "my dog" and he would correct me.  Last night he looked at me and said "Mom, she's your dog."  I asked him if he was ok with that and he was.  Even when I decided to get Meeko for him I knew I would be the primary care giver, but now Luke sees that both he and Meeko see me as their Mom.  Meeko loves Luke and she is gentle with him even though she is a baby herself.  While I was waiting for Meeko as she grew, the only frame of reference about owning a dog was the letters from your previous owners and I read how they loved and were happy with their dogs, but I still didn't fully understand that special something they conveyed in the letters, until now.  She is such a good girl and smart too!  I had a doggie blanket for her and when she first got home she made pee-pee on it, so I washed it and put it away.  I thought the best thing was to use her crate (remove the door) and put a nice towel inside.  After a month she found the blanket (it was inside a bag), she dragged it under my bed and put all her toys on it.  That's her favorite spot to be when we are in my bedroom.  I questioned everyone in the house and they said they hadn't touched it.  I hugged her and kissed her for that.  I check the blanket everyday and it's never soiled.  I've already taught her to sit and stay.  She is about 90% accurate on the wee-wee pads, which is excellent.  I find that the times she has goofed, it's been my fault for not putting the pad exactly where she likes to go.  We are both learning as we go along.  The funny thing is that my husband loves her too.  He plays with her during the day, but when he thinks I'm not watching he kisses her and snuggles with her.  About a week ago, I decided it was time for her to start wearing her collar.  You should have seen the fuss my husband put up about that because he says thinks she could choke.  This collar is the smallest I could find and even so I can still fit my finger in it when she's wearing it.  The collar fits perfectly, but it's funny to hear him go on.  I would put the collar on her and about an hour later he would take it off.  At first she bit it a little, now she doesn't even notice it.  When we are in the car, I carry her like a baby (for now, until she gets used to riding) and I was telling my husband how I can't wait until the spring to walk her on her leash because right now in New York, we have a lot of ice on the ground and its just too cold for outside walks.  My husband looked at me like I had two heads!  He said "your not going to carry her?  she's just a baby."  That made me laugh so hard.  I think that's because he's 6 feet tall and he looks down to see this little fluff ball. ...

Karen, thank you so much for Meeko.  She's awesome, beautiful, smart and so social.  She loves everyone and everyone in my family loves her too.  I brought her to work and one of my co-workers tried to dog-nap Meeko.  I can understand why, but I got really scared after 5 minutes passed and I couldn't find her.  Now I realize that the next command I have to teach her is "speak."  She'll also be starting puppy kindergarten soon.  I'll send the picture of my girl as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Denise

Subject: Re: Zinger and Picadilly's pup:Gucci

AHHH.  Looks are so deceiving.  Gucci looks like this sweet little perfect thing too.  The vet's office didn't believe me when I took her in and said that she was a handful.  Then one day they saw her IN ACTION!!!!!   A dog 4 times her size, which is still not  big, but would have been big to her, walked into the vet while we were sitting there.  She immediately started pouncing on the scared thing and sounding like she was going to tear him up (all the while wagging her tail)  The girls at the front desk jaws dropped and their eyes got big as saucers.  Then they called the help from the back to come and take a look at the monster, as I affectionately call her.  Then they understood why I called her that.  Gucci is maybe 7 1/2 inches tall.  Last month she tipped the scales at 4 lbs.  She has gotten "stockier" this month and feels like shes gained a little more.  I'll take her to the vet scale this weekend and get an accurate weight, since that's where I've been weighing her.  Besides forever looking like a puppy in size I don't think her precious little face will grow into "adulthood" which makes her just adorable!!!!  I'll try to get some good updated pictures of her this weekend next to my full sized shih tzu.  Gucci is almost too big to run underneath Lucy Lu but just a month ago it was a scream to watch.  She hides in the bushes and jumps out to pounce on Lucy Lu when she is walking back from her potty time.  If Lucy Lu hadn't just pottied  it would have scared...

Hi Karen -

I just thought I would let you know that Gigi is doing absolutely WONDERFUL, and has stolen all of our hearts.  After a period of adjustment for Lola (who had to learn to share everything), Gigi has settled right in and keeps us laughing all the time.  She is completely pad trained (it took around 2 months total - now I can finally replace the floors in my house!), and has her own special vocal way to tell me what she wants.  I was lucky to be able to take the girls to my friend's house this weekend to visit her and her twin daughters.  Both Gigi and Lola were GREAT with the twins, and Gigi didn't have a single accident once I showed her where the pad was.  I was so surprised considering that this was a strange home and our routine was all messed up.

Anyway, I can't say enough good things about Gigi, including her breeding, and the incredible job you did with raising them and exposing the pups to everything as soon as possible.  It has definitely made Gigi a more outgoing and adventurous puppy who is the love of my life.  And of course, the most common question that I have been asked is "how on earth can you say no to that face?!?!"  I have learned to just smile and say that it's not easy.  I'm sure you understand.
Thank you again, and keep doing what you're doing!

Hello Karen!

Just wanted to let you know how Bamboo (Doo and Oreo male pup #2) is doing.  HE's such a beautiful puppy and has been such a joy to my family.  He's eating and sleeping well and loves to play.  He's already spoiled, although I am trying to assert the fact that I am the Alpha Dog, he is just too cute sometimes and I relent. (I know, I know...I should remain firm but he is soooooo cute).  That plus the fact that my boys have a fit if he even whimpers or shows anything close to being unhappy. The first time I put him in his kennel and he began to whine and cry, my 5 year old started crying and saying "He's hurting.  He's hurting."  My 7 year old put his arm around his little brother and with a quivering lip himself said, "No, Mills, he's not hurting.  He's just scared to death, that's all!"  Needless to say, he was out of the kennel in a flash.  Since then he's gotten used to his kennel for sleeping and time outs when he's had enough stimulation.  We took him to the vet yesterday...he weighed 2 # 13 oz and got a good report. His favorite place to be is on my feet!  Wherever I go he follows and as soon as I stop he flops down with his head on my foot!  He also got his first bath yesterday and I'm not sure who had the most traumatic experience-me or him:).  He didn't mind the hair dryer but he hated the water.  It's been like having a baby in the house again....constant supervision needed and for entertainment we sit around and watch the baby!  Just wanted you to know how very much he is loved already and thank you for such a special addition to our family.  Will keep you updated as he grows and will try to send a pic sometime soon.  Plus will keep watching your website for updates on your dad.

 God bless you,

Stephanie Ward

  Dear Karen,

My wife and I (Nicole & Brian Chidester) have wanted to send you a picture of our dog, Gidget, that we got from Glory Ridge in July, 2002 (from a litter of Savannah and Red Butlah).  Gidget is the happiest dog I've ever met, and very eloquent and beautiful.  She has brought endless joy to our lives.  We plan on getting a Shih-Tzu for our mother, as well.  Thank you... I hope you enjoy the pictures.  I'll send one with this email, and one in a follow up.

Karen,

We are still loving our two shih-tzu members of the family.  They are very spoiled but everyone should remember the love they give back is priceless.
Miss Millicent (Milli) is 3 years old and Shadow is 2.  They are absolutely fantastic.  I can't imagine life without them.

Nov. 2003:

I head up the Therapy Dogs Inc program in Greenville, SC and I wanted to let you know how good it is to see three different dogs from the same breeder with wonder temperaments. Elizabeth Leonard has been doing Therapy work with us for a couple of years and her dogs are wonderful. If you could have seen them with the little girl at Shriners that had been afraid of dogs and by the end of the night she was feeding them. Having breed a few litters of Vizsla's and knowing how hard it can be to get really good homes for them, I wanted to let you know these three boys are in a wonderful home. You are very lucky to have owners like Elizabeth and her husband, who does Therapy work with them also and "Thank You" for breeding these wonderful temperament Shih-Tzu's.

Hii Karen, You met me out in the middle of nowhere last September when my RV broke down on the way to pick up my pup “Carl” from Zinger’s June 21 litter. When I took him in for his shots and check up, my vet commented on what a healthy, handsome pup he was and all the girls in the office crowded in to get a look. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that “Yoshii” is a beautiful 4 month old boy now.  He loves going out on his walks twice in the morning and twice in the evening, but he is SO disappointed when we don’t meet someone along the way.  I think he must believe that his name is “Oh he’s so cute!”  He still stays in his “playpen” during the day, but has not wet his pee pad in nearly 2 weeks, even though I am usually not home at lunch time to take him out. Of course he has the sweetest personality, but the thing I am most thankful for is his Teflon coat.  Where we live, the grass is always wet with dew in the morning and the driveway is very dusty, so by the time we get back from our walk, Yoshii is a muddy mess.  As soon as he comes in, I pop him into his playpen with a dry towel spread on the floor.  In less than an hour, the towel is damp and dirty, but he is dry, clean, fluffy and has no mats on his legs or tummy!  What a wonder pup!  Thanks for a great pup, Barb Lopes

What a surprise when I got this letter the other day!
Hi Karen,
Just wanted to send you an updated picture of Quincy.
We got him 7 years ago from you and he has been such a joy.

Just thought you'd like to see what he looks like now.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful furkid....

Dear Karen,

We just got home a few minutes ago from picking up our Stella, and she came out of the crate wagging that tail, and gave me tons of kisses on the way home! She is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and as a "dog-person" my whole life, I know quality when I see it, and she is fabulous!

Her coat is wonderful, she is already personality plus, and I know she will be our little darlin.! Thanks so much...I am sure she will bring lots of joy to us, and I will keep you posted with pictures, etc....Her and the little yorkie are becoming fast friends..will wait to introduce her to the big dogs after she is settled in..:)

Take care, Judi, * Stella

MONTE FROM GLORY RIDGE MAKES COVER
OF NATIONAL DOG MAGAZINE!

Hi Karen,

I just wanted to check in and let you know that Monte (Dec '01, from Redd Butla & Yuko) is a celebrity!! We received a call a few months ago from a photography studio asking if we were interested in using Monte as a model -- for a cover shot! Our groomer had recommended him for his beautiful coat! Anyway, at the time of the shoot, they didn't know exactly when his picture would appear on the cover of the dog product catalog, but we recently received a copy of their new fall catalog on which he is the cover model!! :) The company is called the Dog's Outfitter-- if you aren't a normal subscriber, you can log onto their website to request a catalog (which I highly

recommend since the current 'cover dog' is Monte!). http://www.dogsoutfitter.com/ On the cover, he is posing with a Lhasa, who we met at the photo shoot (his name was Wally!). It was so fun, and I hope that they call us again -- they seemed very happy with how cooperative Monte was (he's a ham anyway!), and asked if we would be interested in doing it again! I also think Monte enjoyed getting all of the attention that comes with being a model! Thanks again for the wonderful friend you've given us in Monte -- my husband and I simply adore our little guy! And now we

can brag that he's a model (and we are stage parents! -- how funny!!).  Thanks again, Rachel & Quinn Kirk Williamsport, PA.

"Lucie"
Dear Karen-
I thought I would update you on Lucie, Daughter of Kissy and Redd, who I received
December 30, 2002.
She’s doing just beautifully and is a pure joy in our lives.
She has succeeded in her obedience training and understands spoken commands as well as hand signals.
She is loving, bright and focused and continues to be playful and healthy.  Thanks again for a beautiful wonderful puppy!

Karen, Raven is 18 months now and is still absolutely fabulous. He seems to have topped out at 8.5 lbs. and still goes everywhere. People  are amazed that I have a dog in my bag (if I tell them!). Aside from the lighter backside (under his tail and back of his back legs), he is jet black all over his body now. I whisper to him every morning that he is my special gift from God and I just know that it is SO true. We're driving to California this summer so he'll get to see the Grand Canyon and meet my mom's shih tzu. Thought I would send you this picture to prove how easy it is to spoil one of your little guys. His favorite place at my office is on top of my desk.
He's a great paper weight.

Hope all is well with you, Sherri Palmer

Hi Karen,I finally have the new computer & digital camera up and running. In these photos Yogi has just had a bath and was blow dried. He is a difficult subject to photograph as he keeps moving which is what he does all the time. He loves to play and can amuse himself or play with the other dogs. He is the best natured dog I have ever had. I can't thank you enough for him. He is much loved and a prized member of the family. My Mom has always been a cat person but she is totally in love with this little dog. He is the best! I will send some more photos as soon as I can get some good shots. Take Care, Doug Viening

Hi Karen,
I don't know if you remember me, we bought one of your pups about a year ago for my son. He suffered from depression and we were told a dog would help. Well let me tell you this dog has been a God send. Our whole family seems so much happier. I never dreamed that I could love a dog as much as I do my own children, but I sure do. He is so funny, and really smart. He can do all kinds of tricks, my youngest boy taught him to play "pick a hand", and he knows sit, stay and come. You should see him in his car seat, I bought one of those seats made especially for dogs and he gets in and just sits there looking out the windows. When we go on trips to St. Louis he lays in his seat and sleeps almost the entire way. He never barks, I think he may have barked one time since we've had him, which is great since we live in an apartment. He really is one of the cutest dogs in the world, and that's not just me.   He is so much more than just a pet, he is truly a part of the family. I just can't begin to express my thanks to you for Oscar, but thank you.

Karen,

... Just wanted to update you on Phoebe.  She and I started obedience classes last week.  Phoebe is the youngest and smallest.  The next biggest dog is a schnauzer, but she thinks she is a big dog so she chooses to play with them.  She has such a great personality and just loves people and other animals.  When she gets those puppy energy bursts, there is not stopping her, she runs in circles and just falls to the ground right there to catch her breath and then off she goes again!    I have decided to keep her puppy cut, she is such a tom boy that a long coat would get in the way. I just love her and her expressions! Thank you for breeding such wonderful dogs.In Him,Elisa Budoff

Karen, Jasmine is doing amazing!!! We could not love her more. She is the most sweet, fun, smart dog and everyone who meets her falls in love.

"What is IT?"

Hi Karen,

This is "Moe" or "Mosley"   ( we call him both)  I named him that because of him coming from Mo.  He is doing well and is so cute and loves to play.  We love him so much and enjoy the laughter and fun he brings into our lives.  I must tell you he can get into mischief and has all kinds of squeaky toys, they are his favorite,...but he likes to eat the leaves off my indoor trees and gets on the end table by my chair and takes my paper towel or tissue if I forget to pick it up and tears it up all over. Yesterday his dad was eating a bowl of goulash and watching the news on TV and our other dog, "Moe's" sister  had to go out so he took her out and while he was gone Moe got in his chair and ate his goulash.  When he returned, Moe got down when he heard him, but not quite fast enough... and the tell tale sign of tomatoes were on his beard plus a few pieces on the chair and floor.  We had to laugh as he looked so funny!  He is about 9# now and cute as a button.

Dear Karen, Frodo is now almost 4 months old and weighs just a tad over 5 pounds. He is really like a baby in that he eats, poops, pees, takes naps several times a day and requires our attention when he is awake. And do we enjoy giving him attention! His biggest desire in life is to be with people so when I get up from where I am sitting to go to another room, he perks up and trots right along. When company comes and he hears the doorbell, he runs to see who has come to visit him. Everyone thinks he is adorable.  voice!
He is not a barker, and yet has discovered when he sees his image in the
ground level mirror that he has a voice.
We have trained him to go potty on a wee-wee pad enclosed in a wiz-board
($30 plastic doggie pad holder) although once in awhile he still goofs
when he is too busy or distracted to run over to his special spot. This
has been aggravating but the most difficult thing is disciplining him
because he is so dog-gone cute!! I know, I know, Karen.....that you said
we needed to get tough! We are getting better at putting him in his
crate and being firmer with him, but when his timeout is over, and he
looks up at us with that sweet innocent face we find ourselves smiling
and forgiving him for his indiscretion, knowing that he will eventually
grow up!
Frodo can entertain himself quite well with his myriad of toys.
He
enjoys the stuffed critters best.

His teeth are coming in quite straight
and he is serious about his chewing. With so many toys, we find that he is able to resist chewing on the furniture! That is unlike all the big dogs we have had in the past.

He has always enjoyed his bath time and I
am getting pretty good at clipping his nails. My goal is to do all his grooming and clipping, although I haven't had the courage yet to use the clippers on him. He looks so sweet with his hair growing out. Since our kids are all out of the home, this puppy has brought some  excitement and activity back into our lives. When we come home from errands, here he is....waiting to shower us with kisses! If we are out for the evening, I find myself wondering how he is doing and if he thinks we won't ever come home. (We leave him closed up in the utility room.) It's just like when we had little kids, but now I can't call the babysitter to allay my concerns!
Let me thank you, once again, for your expertise in breeding such a
wonderful little guy. I always refer people who are interested in where I got him, to your website and explain why I wouldn't consider getting a shih tzu from anyone else. And we know that no matter where we would get a puppy, the puppy will still have to "get through" the puppy stage, accidents and all! Our confidence is in knowing that when he is grown, he will still be all that we had hoped for. Good conformation, teeth, eyes, coat and TEMPERAMENT! Thanks again and kisses from Frodo! "Buddy and Brendon"
Out of Rosey and Zinger

My son's name is Brendon.  He is 5 years old.
Buddy kisses him incessantly, and Brendon loves it.
Brendon will lovingly say, "That'sa my boy!".
They adore each other, and are growing
together each day.  Buddy loves to cuddle
him at night, by sleeping against his legs.

Thank you for such a sweet little soul.

I now have two bouncing baby boys!!

"Buddy"
Out of my Sugar Plum and Reilly

This is our little "Buddy"    He is soo smart. He is paper trained and doing well. He does love attention. He has already had his first grooming and shots up to date. We are going to let his hair grow long and I have ordered sooo many bows. The whole family thinks he is just adorable and all who sees him. I can't stress enough how smart he is. We use the potty pads and also the wizdog item which I like. Thank you so much for a wonderful job at raising these dogs and I will highly recommend you to people around here. I will send more pictures....I am an artist so always try too hard to get the perfect picture. Let me know if you got the picture or not.  thanks, Sherie Darby from Cameron, Mo.

"Lucie"
Daughter of  my  Kissy and Redd Butla
I have kept her sister,
Glory Ridge Dimons R Faeva
for 2004 pups!

Hi Karen-

Just thought I would write you to let you know how Lucie is doing.

She is just great.  She and I have become great pals and she is SO SMART.  It will be three weeks today since her arrival and she is pretty much housebroken and already knows so many commands.  She has mastered sit, down, head down, beg, speak, outside, drop it, roll over, and go to bed.

Everyone (including me) is SO impressed with her beautiful coat, her intelligence, and her loving personality.  I could not have asked for a better dog - especially as my first one.  She is just precious!!!  She's spunky as ever but also knows when to calm down.  I just love her.

I praise your breeding skills to everyone I meet.  Having gotten to know some other shih tzu owners, I can honestly see the superior difference between a Gloryridge pup and another.  Lucie is head and shoulders more socialized, smarter, and far more beautiful than any other shih tzu I have seen locally.  You should be very proud...
.
Please know that she is healthy, loved, and thriving in my home.  She's the best. Thanks so much and keep up the good work.
Best regards,Erika Leigh Kruse (and Lucie)  Warwick, Rhode Island

This is what a SHIH-TZU is ALL about:
Dear Karen,

Hi, I just wanted to add to the many wonderful letters you get about Shih-Tzus and how great they are.  Our family has a little Shih-Tzu named Teddy and I want to tell you how important he has become to us.  Before we adopted our daughter, she was a sad lonely little girl.  She developed allergies to many things including our Sheltie.  It broke all our hearts to give our Sheltie to another family member.  Then we heard about how a Shih-Tzu does not shed and that our daughter might not be allergic to them.  We bought a shih-tzu and he was a loving energetic ball of black and white fur.  It has been four years since that day and our daughter has never developed an allergy to him.  Teddy is not a dog to us, he is part of our family.  He sleeps with us, gets presents at Christmas, goes on vacations with us, and is loved by all.  Teddy is not only a loyal watch dog, but  a cuddler, a clown, a show-off, and just a little four legged kid.  Not only has he became a loyal playmate for our daughter, but he has helped me as well.  I have a heart condition and Teddy watches over me on my 'bad days'.  He lowers my stress levels when we sit and cuddle.  We have decided that having a Shih-Tzu in our family is one of the best things we have ever done.  I'm sure you get many letters like this, but I just had to tell you my story.  Thank you for your wonderful website!

                                                                                   Mrs. Hill
Thanks For Coming!
