I have decided to
add this page to help you incase
you run across some common baffling problems. Some of these
are my answers and some are owners that have shared with me.
Nothing is guaranteed,
but experience proves these help...
Did you know that pure canned
pumpkin can firm up loose stools and loosen hard stools in your pet?
You can find it in the pie filling aisle in your grocery store! Just a
little will do the trick! Always keep a can on hand, just in case...
Puppy Biting Tip:
The simplest method for
reducing puppy biting is to gently
grasp its muzzle, hold it shut and say a single, stern "No" in a low
tone. Hold its muzzle closed for 4-5 seconds, then just go back to what
you were doing. They will whine as this is mildly uncomfortable. Don't
squeeze the jaws together; you don't want to cause a pup pain. This
will take a few sessions, but the pup will soon put together the fact
that biting instantly causes his mouth to be held shut, something he
does not like at all.
Puppies bite and chew to teeth. Make them learn there
are toys that are for chewing and hands that are not.

People report to me that the wee-wee pads and
litter boxes do work! If the stinker wants to EAT the
litter, spray it with BITTER APPLE SPRAY

Stool eating
YUK!!! HARRIET!!!!
Accent, STOP pills, FORBID pills are
a fix but THIS hint is BEST:
add spinach to the dog's food and
they won't be looking for desert OR
customers report feeding the dog FIG NEWTONS
also breaks this habit.
BE THERE when he goes and don't act happy
when he goes for "it".
Praise works better than punishment...
but don't let the dog run you!
5 minutes time out in the crate is torture
to the luv bug when he is naughty!

TEAR STAINS
Ah
so...you no want ugly tear stains down face...
it could be an infection, but first try
400 mcg FOLIC ACID (Vitamin B) found in any
store that sells vitamins. Give once a day.
IF it doesn't clear up soon, try terramycin eye ointment.
You can get it
at the Pet store.
FAT DOG SYNDROME
Fido looking
like a porker these days?
STRING BEANS and Potatoes take
weight off fast.
Feed once a day in place of
LOW CALORIE dog food.
I can't stress enough how important
diet is in shih-tzu!!!
Stay away from soy based food!
Just because a food had a fancy name,
doesn't mean it's good food for a shih-tzu.
You don't eat caviar if your allergic to fish!
SHIH-TZU DO NOT DO WELL WITH SOY!
DON'T BLAME THE BREEDER if you feed junk!
High cholesterol, pancreititus, heart disease,
bladder stones are FOOD related!
There may be a genetic predisposition
to some diseases (just like you), but
FOOD is an instigator of many!
