This information was obtained at a Breeders seminar given by a
DVM
I am not prescribing antibiotics, only passing the info given to us.
Use at your own risk.
NOTE; STRAIGHT PENICILLIN AND AMPICILLIN
DOES NOT WORK ALONE ANY MORE!
Most Dog germs are GRAM NEGATIVE.
Have 4-5 antibiotics on hand and change. If no + results in 24 hours, SWITCH
ANTIBIOTICS.
Baytril and Cephglasporins are a good combo, but use others if no results in 24
hours.
USE INJECT ABLE ANTIBIOTICS ON PRE-WEANED PUPS.
ORAL DOESN'T usually WORK.
Clavamox is the ONLY effective antibiotic po drug
in nursing pups. If you have ONE sick pup in litter, Rx entire litter.
D0 NOT GIVE ANTIBIOTICS FOR 48 HOURS AFTER GIVING A KENNEL COUGH
VACCINE AND 7-10 DAYS AFTER. IT WILL KILL THE VACCINE
